Reading
In reading, we can work on:
Decoding: the ability to apply letter-sound knowledge to read the words on the page
Fluency: the ability to read with accuracy, speed and expression
Comprehension: the ability to make meaning from the text
Writing
In writing, we can work on:
Encoding: the ability to apply letter-sound knowledge to spell words correctly
Grammar: the ability to apply our language rules to writing
Written Expression: the ability to write coherently across a variety of forms
Math
In math, we can work on:
Calculation: the ability to solve problems involving the four operations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Problem solving: the ability to solve single and multi-step word problems involving the four operations, fractions and decimals
Handwriting
In handwriting, we can work on:
Letter formation: I help your student reduce and categorize the strokes needed to make every letter in the alphabet and help them realize there are only a few to master to have precise handwriting.
Consistency: Giving your student the practice and practice methods to make their handwriting precise and consistent so their letters look the same across the board.
Homework Help
When completing homework, we can:
Complete assignments together that have been given by your child’s teacher
Learn study skills to help your student work more independently
